After Valentines Day and my daughters dance 💃🏼 showcase, we had a lot of flowers 💐 around the house. Right before they are ready to die, I give them new life by creating a fun activity for the girls. Scissors ✂️, Bowls, colored water 💦, droppers and scoops for the win 🙌🏻 We peeled petals, found ‘hidden’ seeds, cut open stems and even did some leaf 🍃 rubbings to really see the lines on them. Botany meets potion 🧪 making!

Learning our written numbers 1-20. Grab a sharpie, write out your numbers and have your kiddo build a tower in order.

A Greta activity to calm down after school, rainy day ☔️ or sick day 😷. My little has a fever 🤒 and needs to be resting and this is keeping her busy (& still 🙌🏻) for hours. Dried lentil beans, red rice left over from our Valentines sensory bin, scoops, bowls, chopsticks 🥢 (great for strengthening those fine motor skills) and sushi mats. They have played restaurant, made sushi, counter beans, created potions and played hide and seek with the beans in the rice... AND they are STILL playing!!!!

Super easy and cute Valentines 💜 gifts 🎁 for classmates. Homemade playdoh in little jars from amazon. We added a sweet sticker and tied a red ribbon 🎀 on. That’s it! My all time fav recipe is 2 cups flour, 1/2 cup salt 🧂, 2 T cream of Tatar, 2 T oil and 1 1/2 cups boiling water 💦 Add food coloring to the water before mixing (optional).

Always a favorite of ours. Print out pictures of your kiddos in black and white. Let them go to town coloring them in. Use pencils, markers, paint 🎨 or even make up! Some days we stick to realistic colors, other days we get green hair and purple skin 😜

Valentine’s Day sensory bin! Super quick and easy but will occupy your kids for hours. Throw some rice into a large ziploc bag, add some food coloring, shake! Lay the rice on a paper towel to dry. Add the rice into a sensory bin and some fun tools so they can scoop, mix and transfer to their hearts 💕 content. 🥰

It’s almost Valentine’s Day 🥰 Here is a super easy painting activity. Bend a cardboard roll into the shape of a heart 💜, dip in paint 🎨 and stamp! It’s that easy but the results are gorgeous 😊

The silver lining to all this rain ☔️ we are getting are the gorgeous rainbows 🌈 This is a super fun and easy activity. Place dots of paint close to each other, grab a craft stick and move the paint 🎨 across the paper. Always a favorite of ours. Experiment with various shapes, colors and mixtures.

Exploring animal tracks 🦒 🦓 🦔 🐘

The preschool where I work has such amazing and talented teachers 👩🏼‍🏫 They did this exercise with the 4 and 5 year olds and it turned out SO gorgeous that I wanted my own 🥰 Who doesn’t love hippos 🦛 under water 💦? Surprisingly my 9 year old seemed to draw hers from her own mind while my 5 year old really looked 👀 at her picture and tried to draw it as was. Have them draw the hippo 🦛 using a sharpie and then color it in with water colors 🎨

She doesn’t want to go to sleep because she is so into this book. I think I may just let her stay up all night!!!

Thank you to @ohcanaryart for inspiring these rainbows 🌈 we recycled ♻️ our 📦 by cutting out rainbow 🌈 shapes and painting 🎨, glueing and sprinkling our way to magical ✨ masterpieces.

We love making and playing with Gak! Just mix together corn starch and water 💦 (we add some food coloring to the water before mixing just to get a pretty color). Not quite a solid and not quite a liquid, this non Newtonian fluid will amaze everyone. My 5 year old just loves playing with it while my 9 year old is experimenting and researching it. Right now we are seeing what happens when it freezes! 🥶 Stay tuned! I’ll post updates in my stories.

Vegetable Stamping 🥔🥕🥦🥒🍠 If you know me, you know I just love fun and easy activities. This is one of my favorites to have set up for when the kids come home. Cut veggies like onions, bell peppers and celery in half, dip them in paint 🎨 and stamp! It may even create a love of veggies 🤷🏼‍♀️ 😉

Our go-to baking soda and vinegar experiment got a surprise twist today when they discovered the colored paints hidden under the baking soda. 🎨 🙌🏻

Snail Mail 🐌. I bought a bunch of blank postcards from amazon (of course 🤦🏼‍♀️) and set out some Valentine’s Day stickers (a lot thanks to @lovepipsticks ) and some markers. The girls are having a blast decorating their blank canvases and we will address them and send them out soon. What kid doesn’t love getting something special in the mail created just for them! 📫✉️

This is a great activity for cold and rainy ☔️ days (or snow ❄️ days which we don’t get). Shaving cream and a paint brush. Yep... it’s that simple but in my experience, simple activities are usually the best. My NINE year old spent so long playing in the shower 🚿. It started as ‘painting’ which led to body painting which led to finger painting which led to ‘I’m seeing if I can cover all of the walls 🤦🏼‍♀️ Thankfully all the mess is contained and is self cleaning 😉 I used small silicone molds to place the shaving cream in and kept it out of the stream of water 💦 This really helped to portion out the shaving cream so we didn’t go through a zillion cans. These two trays lasted her over an hour! (I had to finally cut the water off because California is in a drought.... 🤔). Have fun with this one guys!!!!

How amazing is this LEGO tray??? @hedge_family_life sells these on her Etsy page and you can get them personalized with your child’s name, chose your wood stain and your color. There is a side to build your LEGO structures and a side to keep your loose pieces... no more stepping on legos in bare feet 🦶🏻🙌🏻 This post is not sponsored... I just wanted to give a shout out to a hard working woman who is running her own business 🎉

Mess free painting? Yes, please! 🙋🏼‍♀️ Grab some heavy duty paper 📝 and place it is a large ziploc bag. Add some squirts of paint 🎨 and seal the bag. Let your children ‘finger paint’ to their hearts content 🥰. When finished, gently remove the paper (be careful not to tip it as it will be quite wet from the paint). No hand 🖐🏻 washing 💦 required!!!

Our gorgeous finds from our nature walk today! 🍁 🌸 🌲 My rule is they are not allowed to pick anything. They were thrilled today because the recent rains ☔️ have left some gorgeous finds on the ground. Somehow we found this cut pick of wood too 🤷🏼‍♀️
