French Toast

French toast

In our family, we mark special days first thing in the morning.  Whether it is Christmas, birthdays, the day of a big game, concert or even getting braces on, we start the morning  with a special breakfast.  Nine times out of ten, we are all around the breakfast table sharing the excitement of the day over our homemade french toast.  This recipe is easy and quick and one that we all love.  We hope that it becomes a staple for your family too!

-Stale bread (at least 6 slices)

-3 eggs

-3/4 cup milk

-3 Tbsp sugar

-1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

-3/4 tsp cinnamon

-Large pinch nutmeg

-Large pinch of salt

-Butter for cooking

-Optional Toppings: syrup, fruit, whipped cream or powdered sugar.

  1. Mix eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  2. Soak bread in the mixture.
  3. Heat a small amount of butter in a pan.  Place one slice of bread at a time and turn until both sides are brown.
  4. Add on toppings of your choice and enjoy!
